Speech-Language Pathology

Designed to help with academics, social skills, behavior, sleep, breathing and set your child on a trajectory of success and joy!

At TLC Pediatric Therapy, we honor every child’s unique way of communicating. From neurodivergent communication styles to the use of sign language, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and visual devices, there are many ways children share their message and communicate.

Our skilled pediatric speech-language pathologists (SLPs) partner with families to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that maximizes each child’s strengths. By focusing on the critical Birth–5 years when neuroplasticity is at its peak, children have an opportunity to reach their potential in school, peer relationships, and participate fully in the family structure.

What Is Speech & Language Therapy?

Speech and language therapy supports children in developing the skills needed to:

  • Express themselves effectively.
  • Understand others.
  • Access curriculum in academic settings.
  • Build social and family relationships.

Specific areas assessed and targeted include:

  • Speech is how we produce sounds and one of the modes in which to use language. Specific to articulation, resonance, fluency.
  • Language is how we understand and use words – vocabulary, grammar, storytelling, social interaction.

Children may benefit from pediatric speech and language therapy if they:

  • Struggle to pronounce sounds clearly.
  • Have difficulty following directions or understanding stories.
  • Find it hard to express needs or build vocabulary.
  • Struggle with conversations, turn-taking, or social communication.
  • Show feeding or swallowing difficulties tied to oral-motor skills.

At TLC, therapy is play-based, engaging, and family-centered so the process feels natural while progress is rewarding.

Why Speech & Language Therapy Matters

From a child’s first “mama” or “dada,” communication forms the foundation for early childhood development. By age five, language skills directly shape literacy, school readiness, and peer relationships.

GET STARTED

Without support, speech and language challenges may impact:

  • Reading and academic achievement.
  • Confidence and self-esteem.
  • Social skills and friendships.

When families seek therapy during the Birth–5 window, children progress rapidly because their brains are most ready to learn. Gaining communication skills early sets the stage for lifelong success in school, relationships, and independence.

At TLC, we:

  • Tailor therapy to each child’s strengths and needs.
  • Partner with families through coaching and collaboration.
  • Provide care grounded in clinical research.
  • Celebrate every milestone—from first words to full conversations.

Everyday Skills &
Meaningful Growth
Through Speech Therapy

Our SLP teams assess expressive and receptive language, social communication, cognition communication, and verbal-motor skills.

Therapy is integrated into everyday routines—songs, stories, play, and family interaction—so children learn in ways that feel natural and joyful. Parents and caregivers are invited to participate, reinforcing skills at home through your family’s natural environment and activities of daily living. We are experts in how to integrate and build relationships with caregivers and make tips and techniques easy to integrate, and meaningful to you.

We recognize that each new sound, word, phrase, or conversation builds confidence, connection, and joy.
