What services does TLC offer?

TLC offers pediatric speech language therapy and occupational therapy to children from birth to five. TLC’s unique clinical expertise ensures children with a wide range of conditions can be treated and optimize their developmental potential. Therapy services are offered in a state of the art clinic in downtown Los Angeles, and can also be provided in home and within a child’s school setting.

Can my child receive therapy services at TLC?

TLC is committed to being your partner in ensuring your child receives an appropriate evaluation and services. How can I refer a child for services?

Does insurance cover therapy services?

Insurance companies are increasingly covering therapy services. There are also other funding sources for therapy in California, like the Regional Center. Funding for services will be discussed during your phone consultation with a TLC Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) – a staff person who is dedicated to assisting your child in receiving the care he/she needs.

Can I attend my child’s therapy sessions?

Yes! TLC encourages a caregiver’s active participation in therapy sessions. We believe that the caregiver’s role is most critical and we are committed to supporting you in developing skills to support your child and carry over progress made in clinic to the home. What types of developmental and learning disorders does TLC treat?

TLC treats a wide range of childhood conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Mental Retardation and other neurodevelopmental disorders. TLC clinicians are skilled at addressing Sensory Processing Disorders and Speech and Language Conditions like Cognitive Communication Disorders, Social Communication Disorders, Functional Speech Sound Disorders of Articulation and Phonology, Feeding and Swallowing, Organic Speech Sound Disorders, and Resonance Disorders.

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you have a concern about your child’s communication health, complete step one of the TLC therapy process to receive a free consultation where we will provide a screening to determine need for speech therapy services. You can also review your child’s milestones here to determine if your child is appropriately meeting his/her milestones. If you have a concern, schedule a phone consultation. We also encourage you to talk to your child’s primary care provider or contact your local Regional Center to have your child evaluated.

Do you communicate about my child’s development to his doctor?

TLC’s care philosophy, BRIDGE, focuses on an integrated care model that connects TLC clinicians with other members of your child’s healthcare team. This ensures we are all working together towards shared goals and parents and caregivers are kept aware during the process of screening, evaluation and treatment.
