In the United States, 1 in 54 children have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ASD is a developmental disability that impacts multiple components of the individual’s life, including communication skills, social skills, and behavior. Rates of ASD have continued to increase over the years, and numerous organizations are dedicated to promoting awareness and acceptance of autism, as well as educating parents, caregivers, and the professionals who care for them.
TLC is proud to “Celebrate Differences” as part of National Autism Awareness Month. Our compassionate team of therapists and patient coordinators promote inclusion and acceptance as they provide education and support centered on our families.
We’ve put together a few resources and activities for you to take advantage of. As always, we’ll be sharing more information on the Facebook page throughout the month.
In response to COVID-19, TLC has transitioned all of its in-person services to virtual care. Teletherapy is an easy to use and effective way to deliver therapy that is supported by research in advancing a child’s developmental and communication goals. TLC is here to support you, your child and your family during this unsettling time.
